GSMTR and Summer Events

The 17th Annual GSMTR (Great Smoky Mountain Trail Ride) was held this past week in Murphy, NC. There were around 111 vehicles that registered and over 160 people. We would like to thank all the UC members who attended. Lot's of things have been going on behind the scenes with the UC officers on this event. About 3 weeks ago STLCA asked UC if we would like to keep the event going and pass the torch to us on hosting the event from now on. After a lot of e-mails between officers we all agreed that we couldn't let the event go away and we accepted. So UC will be hosting GSMTR 09 and all future GSMTR's from now on. Thanks STLCA for giving us the chance to continue the tradition of this being the biggest Cruiser event in the east.
The next monthly meeting is coming up on the Sat the 31st of May at 5pm. Ralph Hayes Toyota, our club sponsor, has invited us to come have some BBQ with them and come take a tour of their facility as well as giving out a bunch of stuff (GPS, hats, shirts, tools, parts, etc.). As most of you know this is a big event for us and them. We will need a head count to know how much food to order, so please email Marshall if you plan to attend.
Two weeks later we will be holding our annual golf tournament. Plan on it being somewhere in the Upstate or mountains of NC. Alan Hardin is putting this together. Should be a lot of fun as usual. Keep an eye on the messageboard for updates.
The following week June 20-22 we will be holding the Club SHAMONwich at Alan Hardins house in Cleveland, SC. This is an all-weekend event. There will be camping for those who want to stay the whole time and plenty of activities all weekend long. This is a good time for you to come learn about your cruiser as well as get some things fixed. Our main goal will be doing axle rebuilds but this doesn't mean we won't be doing other things. There is a transfer case rebuild and 3rd member setup class planned. Everything will kick off Friday at 7pm.

Adopt-a-Highway
This coming Saturday the 22nd at high noon we will be having a normal Adopt-A-Highway. We will be meeting beside the F-Mart. Usually this takes no more than a couple hrs to do (the more people we have the quicker it is) and there is a really nice state park at the end to take family and go for a hike after. We always meet back at the F-Mart for a few hot dogs and a Nehi Grape soda.

Take Business 25/276 north thru Travelers Rest, Marietta and Cleveland to he F-Mart store and signs for Jones Gap State Park and River Falls Road on the right. MAP
Gultches
Two weeks later we will be meeting at the Gulches for some wheeling and fun. This would normally be our Monthly Meeting but because of the event going on at the Gulches we decided to move it back a week. We will be meeting at 10am that Saturday the 5th of April at the Gulches. Marshall will lead a convoy from his house leaving around 9am. E-mail Marshall for directions. Gulches is hosting a competition that day. So there will be a lot going on. You can wheel, watch other wheel or do a little of both. The event will be moving around the park so some section will be closed and then reopened. It is a lot of fun. It's $10 to wheel and $10 to watch. Bring the kids and family they will like it.

April Monthly Meeting
The next Saturday, April 12th, at 6pm we will be having our monthly meeting located at the Sonic in Mauldin off Butler Rd. Come and hang out with us around the cruisers!
